The sport has completely exploded over the past 3 or 4 years. In good wind conditions in summer, it isn't unusual to count over 100 kites in the sea and on the beachan amazing sight! It is easy to understand why this sport is so popular - it looks deceptively easy, the jumps and tricks look spectacular
All our instructors speak fluently English, Spanish, Portuguese and are high qualified by IKO and have several years experience in teaching of kitesurfing
To teach kitesurf, we use the newest "zeeko-kites" kites from 2010, so to learn to kitesurf cannot be easier!!

The kitesurfing courses are given on different kite surf beaches (lagoa de albufeira, guincho, fonte da telha, alcochete, other Lisbon beachs), where we offer a large choice of exercises adapted to everyone's capabilities and to the weather conditions.

LEVEL 1 - DISCOVERING KITESURFING
Goal: To understand the sport, ambient and sociological dimensions of this water sport. This program was conceived to allow you fast development in an ambience of success, with strict safety restrictions. The IKO Instructors respect your learning rythm, always following from very close all that regards the goal you have towards Kitesurfing.
At the end, your level will be certified with the IKO KITEBOARDER CARD.
Kiteboarder Level 1 is on land.
Duration:
No maximum amount of hours. It's until you reach the goal.
LEVEL 1 A
Know safe wind directions and conditions for kiting.
Know hazards on a spot.
Set up a trainer kite.
Know the use of safety systems.
LEVEL 1 B
Have basic flying skills with trainer kite.
Launch and land the trainer kite with an assistant.
Twist and untwist the lines while flying the kite.
Walk and change directions while flying the kite.
Know the wind window.
LEVEL 1 C
LEVEL 1 D
Control the kite hooked into the harness.
Understand the de-power system and can use the safety systems.
Advanced flying skills with the de-power kite.
Show full control of de-power systems in flight.
LEVEL 1 E
Pull quick release and activate leash.
Recover the bar and kite.
Self-land.
LEVEL 2 - KITESURF INTERMEDIATE PROGRAM
Kiteboarder Level 2 - in the water
Once you complete this program, you will start riding on the board. You will be ready to continue to the next level of riding and become an independent kiteboarder!

LEVEL 2 F
Enter and exit the water independently and safely while controlling the kite.
Water re-launch the kite.
First body dg downwind.
Maintain correct kite position in the wind window.
Change direction to the left and right while body dragging.
Recover the kite and bar in the water.
LEVEL 2 G
Upwind body drag to recover board.
Upwind body drag holding the board with one hand.
Enter and exit at the same point while upwind body dragging.
LEVEL 2 H
Know the power stroke for a water start.
Know the safety rules and theory for water start.
Can put the board on the feet and maintain the correct position for water start
LEVEL 2 I
Water start in both directions and ride a short distance.
Come to a controlled stop.
Understand weather forecast, tidal- and wind effects.
Determine the wind strength, direction and quality.
Know the right of way rules.
Know equipment set up and choice according to the weather conditions.
LEVEL 3 INDEPENDT KITEBOARDER PROGRAM
Once you have completed this program, you will be able to start jumping and you will be a truly independent rider! Kiteboarding is a sport that is easy to travel with, so go explore different locations, water surfaces and wind strengths!

Control the riding speed by edging.
Consistent riding in both directions.
LEVEL 3 K
Consistent riding in all directions including upwind.
Ride amongst other riders and water users and respect right of way rules.
LEVEL 3 L
Change of direction without stopping.
LEVEL 3 M
Risk assessment and awareness of the riding area.
Self-launch
LEVEL N
Make a toe side turn.
Knows the theory and the safety rules for jumping.
Land a basic jump.
